Bali, Indonesia - Sustainable tourism destinations have become a major component of the cultural and lifestyle journey of each tourist destination and are a motivation to travel today. Tourism activities related to sustainable tourism in various countries, are reasons for regional development, developing segments with great opportunities to meet market demand, attract new investments in increasing regional employment, and also provide other innovative approaches to the preservation of sustainable culture, heritage to be developed in tourist destinations. This 6th BBTF this year chose the theme for the Travel Fair not only to raise awareness nationally or regionally but also to participate in the global tourism movement.
Indonesian tourism is growing twice as fast as the global average. The growth of tourism in Indonesia is listed as one of the best in the world and is among the 20 fastest growing tourist destinations which means that the growth rate is equivalent to the global standards recorded last year. All efforts are choreographed by the Minister of Tourism in collaboration with stakeholders. Indonesia is becoming a global player by exposing natural wealth, culture, art, untouched and up-to-date traditions as shopping destinations and gastronomy throughout the country.
Based on this year's World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) research shows that: Travel & Tourism in Indonesia grew 7.8% in 2018 - double the global average of 3.9% and ahead of the broader Indonesian economy. This contributed 6.0% to Indonesia's GDP, valued at IDR 890,428 billion (USD $ 62.6 billion) when all direct, indirect and induced effects were considered.
Travel & Tourism supports 10.3% of all employment in Indonesia, or 13 million jobs, GDP contribution is projected to grow by 5.2% in 2019. One in three of all tourism jobs in the ten countries that make up Southeast Asia, is located in Indonesia. This makes Indonesia the third largest Travel & Tourism economy in Southeast Asia after Thailand and the Philippines. There was a tremendous increase in business spending last year, which now accounts for 30% of tourism expenditure in Indonesia compared to 70% of free time.
In total, international tourists spent almost IDR 221,000 billion (USD $ 15.5 billion) in Indonesia last year, accounting for 6.8% of total exports. The largest inbound international market is Singapore (15%); Malaysia (14%); China (13%); Australia (11%); and Japan (5%).

Known as the leading International Travel and Tourism Exhibition in Indonesia, BBTF where this event was initiated and organized by the Association of Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA) Bali, which until now has become a discussion, will become one of the most important Tourism exhibitions in Indonesia. BBTF 2019 is held at the leading and prestigious exhibition and convention center from June 26-28, 2019, precisely at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) - located in a near beach area, surrounded by many five-star international hotels and resorts that can all be reached within on foot.
